Interview #2 With Jennifer Estep Plus a Giveaway

It has been quite some time since Insomnia Book Club did an interview. Today I.B.C has quite a treat for its bookworms! The wonderful Jennifer Estep has agreed to do another interview with us based around her Elemental Assassin series! Credit for the questions being asked go to a couple of the readers of I.B.C, Angie and Cherale.

**Keep reading after the interview as there will be details on a giveaway for Spider's Trap (Elemental Assassin #13) by Jennifer Estep.**

Be sure to be on the look out for the next book in the Elemental Assassin series, Bitter Bite (book 14). The release date is scheduled for February 2016.

As most of you are probably itching to get to the interview, without further ado here is Mrs. Estep with answers to our readers' questions!

Insomnia Book Club [I.B.C]: Are vampires born or made, or both, in the Elemental Assassin world?

Jennifer Estep [JE]: In my Elemental Assassin world, vampires are born. So far, no one has “made” a vampire, but that could happen somewhere down the road. It just depends on what inspiration might strike me, and if it would be good fit for the books or not.

IBC: Will there be a spinoff series to Elemental Assassin?

JE: I’ve been thinking about doing a spinoff series, but right now, my writing schedule is already full going into 2017. So we’ll see what happens. I am hoping to do some more e-novellas from different characters’ points of view, but we’ll see what I have time for.

Here is my Elemental Assassin release schedule for 2016:

BitterBite, book #14, will be out on Feb. 23.

Unwanted, an e-novella from Finnegan Lane’s point of view, will be released on July 18.

Unraveled, book #15, will be out on Aug. 30.

So there will be plenty of Elemental Assassin stories to read from me this year.

IBC: What inspired you to cross-reference characters from one series to another?

JE: I enjoy putting references to my other books – Mythos Academy, Black Blade, and Bigtime – into my Elemental Assassin series and vice versa. Like Finn wearing a Fiona Fine suit (Bigtime) or Lila Merriweather (Black Blade) talking about barbecue sauce from the Pork Pit. I think they are just fun little Easter eggs for readers to find.

IBC: Will Gin ever mentor a kid the way that Fletcher did with her?

JE: As of right now, I don’t have any plans to do that, but I’ll never say never. It may happen someday. It just depends on where the characters and the story takes me.

IBC: Will there be an origins story about Ashland (and about how the Snow and Monroe family officially met)?

JE: With The Spider, book #10 in the series, I did a prequel story about Gin, showing how she truly became an assassin. So that’s sort of my origins story for the series. There is also a free short story about Mab Monroe that shows some of her history with Gin’s mother on my website.

I think it would be fun to do a Snow/Monroe family feud story, but again, my writing schedule is already pretty full. So we’ll see what happens.

IBC: Thanks again for being willing to do an interview again!

JE: Thanks for hosting me on your site again. I appreciate it. Happy reading, everyone! :)

Spider's Trap by Jennifer Estep

Keep your friends close but your enemies within stabbing distance.

One important lesson I’ve learned in the assassination business is that to be the best you have to roll with the punches. Now that I’m queen of Ashland’s underworld—by default, not by choice—a lot more punches are being thrown my way. But I suppose that’s the price of victory for taking down some of the underworld’s top dogs. Good thing I have my Ice and Stone magic to help me survive my volatile new position. Just when I think things are finally settling down, someone tries to murder me during a hush-hush underworld meeting. But the real surprise is how strangely familiar my shadowy assailant seems to be.

My job is to maintain order among killers, crooks, and thieves, and soon I’m embroiled in a bloody game where the ability to keep secrets could be the greatest superpower of all. My enemies have all sharpened their knives and laid their traps, waiting for me to fall. But this Spider weaves her own webs of death…
