Book Review: The Duke's Accidental Wife

**This completely honest book review is in exchange for the book received from Net Galley.

Finally finished The Duke's Accidental Wife by Erica Ridley. It took so long due to things going on in real life. The Duke's Accidental Wife is the 7th book in the The Dukes of War book series. The Viscount's Christmas Temptation is the first book in the series and is available for free on Amazon.com in e-book format. Click here to get your copy.

The Duke's Accidental Wife was an enjoyable read. At first I was unsure on the two main characters in the series as to whether or not I would like them. After reading the e-book for a while, watching the characters grow, I came to like them. It was really nice to see how much the two main characters grew as people as well as together.

Step into this historical romance with a headstrong heroine and a hero with a mighty pen.

Special Message To All Bookworms

Hey Bookworms,

I'm sorry that the blog has fallen behind lately. I will be trying my best to get on top of it as soon as possible. Unfortunately, there has been a major family medical issue going on. I just wanted to let all of the readers/bookworms know that I am still around but blog posts will be spaced out.

As always, Happy Reading!

Mini Book Review: A Court of Mist and Fury (Spoilers)

For those of you who haven't read A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J. Maas there are spoilers in this blog post about it.

A Court of Mist and Fury is the second book in the A Court of Thorns and Roses series by Sarah J. Maas.

There are so many things that could be said for this book. Keeping it short and sweet, A Court of Misty and Fury is AMAZING! The ending leaves you on the edge of your seat, absolutely craving the rest of the story. It was without a doubt one of the biggest book hangovers that I have ever had. I can't praise A Court of Mist and Fury enough. Sarah J. Maas is a genius.

Is there a love triangle in this series? Yes, but without it we wouldn't have the amazing second book in the series. Without it so many things in the plot wouldn't exist. Just as Feyre was in love with Tamlin and was abused in ways by him that seemed almost acceptable to her Sarah J. Maas made us feel for Feyre, feel that everything was right in A Court of Thorns and Roses. Enter A Court of Mist and Fury and so many things fall into place, so many things are explained, so many things are the opposite of the first book. Forget what you knew in A Court of Thorns and Roses because in A Court of Mist and Fury everything changes, everything is complete.

Interview With David Dugas Jr. Plus a Giveaway!

It has been a really long time, bookworms, since I.B.C has done an author interview due to life being busy. However, today all of you are getting a look into David Dugas Jr., new horror author as well as a good friend of mine.

David Dugas Jr. is the author of Bloodstone Institute. I highly recommend his work to lovers of horror and thriller/suspense. Bloodstone Institute is a 142 page novella, which makes it perfect to test the waters with as a reader as well as for those who prefer novella length books. Be sure to pick up a copy from Amazon.com or Barnes & Noble.

Don't forget to check out the giveaway for Bloodstone Institute at the end of the interview!

Without further ado, I invite all members and readers alike to sit for a spell while David Dugas Jr. welcomes us into his fascinating world of horror.

Insomnia Book Club [IBC]: Do you have a favorite author that inspires you?
David Dugas Jr. [DD]: Stephen King has always been my biggest inspiration in the writing world. I’ve noticed myself writing a similar style like him in a way.

IBC: Where did your idea for Bloodstone Institute come from?
DD: I volunteered at a haunted house when I was a teenager up till my early twenties. It was a school for the deaf and they ran an attraction once a year to help keep the school running. It was my favorite time in my life and place to go. All great friends hung out, we would dress up and scare people for fun. It is what turned me into the love of horror and was one place that made me feel comfortable. There were rumors that the place was really haunted, I laughed until I found out myself. I heard creepy stories from others they experienced while working there. Years after the school and haunt shut down, I came up with an inspiring idea to write a fictional story based off stories I was told and turn some into a different story with an actual back story. This has been one of my favorite things I have written so far.

IBC: As a male author, what was it like writing from a female character's perspective in Bloodstone Institute?
DD: Difficult, it’s hard to discuss the opposite sex and how they might feel and react to something. All I do is try my best.

April 26th New Releases From Two Favorite Authors

Z, book number 11.8 from the Demonica series by Larissa Ione will be released April 26th. On the same exact day Bright Blaze of Magic, which is the third book in the Black Blade series by Jennifer Estep, is scheduled for release as well!

Z by Larisa Ione

Zhubaal, fallen angel assistant to the Grim Reaper, has spent decades searching for the angel he loved and lost nearly a century ago. Not even her death can keep him from trying to find her, not when he knows she’s been given a second chance at life in a new body. But as time passes, he’s losing hope, and he wonders how much longer he can hold to the oath he swore to her so long ago…

As an emim, the wingless offspring of two fallen angels, Vex has always felt like a second-class citizen. But if she manages to secure a deal with the Grim Reaper — by any means necessary — she will have earned her place in the world. The only obstacle in the way of her plan is a sexy hardass called Z, who seems determined to thwart her at every turn. Soon it becomes clear that they have a powerful connection rooted in the past…but can any vow stand the test of time?

Bright Blaze of Magic by Jennifer Estep

Bad Things Always Come In Threes…

As a thief, I'm good at three things: hiding in the shadows, getting in and out unseen, and uncovering secrets. I put these skills to work for the Sinclair Family, one of the magical mobs that run the tourist town of Cloudburst Falls.

Everyone knows Victor Draconi wants to take over all the other Families--and kill every last Sinclair. What they don't know is that I'm on to him, and no way will I let the man who murdered my mom get away with hurting all the other people I care about. Especially when I've got places to break into, stuff to steal, and Devon Sinclair fighting right by my side…

Book Review: Laird Wolf

Finally finished the second book for Secret Book Santa challenge, Laird Wolf by Vivian Arend. It's the second book in the Takhini Shifters series, somewhat of a spinoff from Ms. Arend's Takhini Wolves series and Granite Lake series. Currently there are only two books in the Takhini Shifters series.

Laird Wolf was an enjoyable read but it just didn't reach out to me as being an amazing read. It's possible that it could be because it was always late whenever I started reading it each night. Sleepiness is definitely a down side to reading at night. The side characters were both lovable and humorous. The hero has a past to deal with and the heroine has her own issues to get through.

Enter a paranormal romance with two shifters who least expect a mate in one another.

"Tell her Damon is here."

Meet Damon. Stuck in Scotland. In June. As a favor for a friend he travels to Scotland to check up on his friend's friend, Addie. Along the journey he helps Addie out, makes friends with some interesting characters, learns more about his wolf, and finds love in an unexpected place.

Book Review: Devil In Winter

Recently I finished Devil In Winter by Lisa Kleypas. It's the third book in the Wallflowers, a historical romance series. I've read all of the books in the series except for the fourth book and the prequel, though a little out of order. Wallflowers is without a doubt one of my favorite historical romance series.

When it came to Devil In Winter the heroine did surprise me with her personality. In the previous books in the Wallflowers she appeared to be extremely shy and quiet, which she is but beneath all of that she is a strong and brave character.

Devil In Winter definitely had it's share of heartache but there were also bouts of humor and, of course, romance.

Step into a historical romance based around a few ladies of varying ages known as the Wallflowers.

"I-I just want to be safe from him. From all of them."

Meet Evangeline, otherwise known as Evie. Though her exterior is shy and almost mouse like her interior is strong and even stronger than she might think at first. Her glass is more than half empty, it's empty period. With very, very few options to get out of the horrible life that was possibly unintentionally paved for her she decides to take matters into her own hands. To be rid of a horrifying present and future she attempts to acquire a miserable future but less miserable than currently. She seeks the help of an aristocrat with plenty of ego and flair. She expected the bitter-sweetness of being rid of a horrifying situation and not being truly happy but what she didn't expect was right under her nose. Love. True love.

Interview #2 With Jennifer Estep Plus a Giveaway

It has been quite some time since Insomnia Book Club did an interview. Today I.B.C has quite a treat for its bookworms! The wonderful Jennifer Estep has agreed to do another interview with us based around her Elemental Assassin series! Credit for the questions being asked go to a couple of the readers of I.B.C, Angie and Cherale.

**Keep reading after the interview as there will be details on a giveaway for Spider's Trap (Elemental Assassin #13) by Jennifer Estep.**

Be sure to be on the look out for the next book in the Elemental Assassin series, Bitter Bite (book 14). The release date is scheduled for February 2016.

As most of you are probably itching to get to the interview, without further ado here is Mrs. Estep with answers to our readers' questions!

Insomnia Book Club [I.B.C]: Are vampires born or made, or both, in the Elemental Assassin world?

Jennifer Estep [JE]: In my Elemental Assassin world, vampires are born. So far, no one has “made” a vampire, but that could happen somewhere down the road. It just depends on what inspiration might strike me, and if it would be good fit for the books or not.

IBC: Will there be a spinoff series to Elemental Assassin?

JE: I’ve been thinking about doing a spinoff series, but right now, my writing schedule is already full going into 2017. So we’ll see what happens. I am hoping to do some more e-novellas from different characters’ points of view, but we’ll see what I have time for.

Here is my Elemental Assassin release schedule for 2016:

BitterBite, book #14, will be out on Feb. 23.

Unwanted, an e-novella from Finnegan Lane’s point of view, will be released on July 18.

Unraveled, book #15, will be out on Aug. 30.

So there will be plenty of Elemental Assassin stories to read from me this year.
