Brink of Passion by Sondrae Bennett
Synopsis:
He’ll do anything to protect his mate. The last thing Laurie expects when she bumps into Max at the shifter convention is finding her mate. Certainly not that her mate can shift into a leopard. Wolves and leopards mix about as well as water and oil. Or should she say, dogs and cats. Mating him means leaving her family, her town, and the only home she’s ever known. But the possibility of a happily ever after is worth the risk, right? Max couldn’t be happier with his brazen, feisty wolf, but returning home isn’t the welcoming affair he’d expected. In his absence, his brother has been attacked within the leap complex. Something must to be seriously wrong. Could someone be using his loved ones to get to him? When his worst fears prove true, his protective instinct goes into overdrive. Will keeping Laurie mean putting her in danger?

Review:
Brink of Passion was definitely a good book from the Alpine Woods Shifters series. It was really cool seeing a wolf mated to another species, especially one that's "taboo". Things with Laurie and Max, the heroine and hero, started off really fast but at the same time it was part of the story and made sense. I was kind of iffy on that part at first. It would of been nice to see more interacting between Max and Laurie in regards to the pack (the word for Max's group of species isn't coming to me at the moment) like towards the end of the book. Again, though, that was understandable considering what was going on, etc. There was a twist at the end with who the bad guy was and I definitely didn't see that coming! The different location/scenery in this book was kind of cool too. Laurie was awesome at adapting even though she wasn't wanting to be in that place at first really. Overall it was a really good book. The ending of it leads me to really wanting to read the next one in the series.

Secret Book Santa Mini Reviews Part 1

For this season's picks for Secret Book Santa I chose all short books because I'm currently reading the Throne of Glass series and it's definitely hard to put down. So far I've read all but two of the books for Secret Book Santa.

A Demon and His Witch by Eve Langlais
Synopsis:
Burning alive is nothing compared to the heat of his touch. There are better ways to break up with a girl than having her roasted at the stake as a witch. Is it any wonder Ysabel has trust issues? She got her revenge, though, and it only cost her a slightly tarnished soul. Working for Lucifer isn't all bad, until her ex-boyfriend escapes the bowels of Hell and she's forced to team up with a womanizing demon to fetch the jerk back. As a minion in Lucifer's legion, Remy's seen a lot of things, but nothing can prepare him for the witch with the acerbic tongue - and voluptuous figure. The more she pushes him away, the more determined he becomes to seduce her. However, what's a poor demon to do when he accidentally falls in love and wants to keep her forever? Welcome to Hell where you're screwed if you do and damned if don't. And just so you know, Lucifer has a special spot reserved for you...

Review:
For the first "mini" review, A Demon and His Witch, was a good read. At first the book read as though it was going to be mostly silly jokes but once things got started the more serious topics came up, etc. The hero and the heroine bantered a lot, which was throughout the entire book. The bantering was amusing but the hero's Mother might of topped it, "maybe". She was a mixture of jaw dropping crazy and amusement. Lucifer was fairly amusing in this book too. He had his own agenda, of course, was afraid of his wife and somehow did a good job of playing matchmaker.

Another Way to Share Books - Book Crossing

Hey there, Bookworms,

Sometimes we need to make space for books in our homes and sometimes we're just looking to get rid of books that we no longer want or didn't like. A good way of doing just that is through a website called Book Crossing. It isn't an old website at all but for those of you who don't know about it I thought I would share the website with you all.

Book Crossing isn't just a way of sharing books with others but also a way of seeing how far they travel as well. It's pretty simple to do. Whether you create a label or just make a note to stick inside the book that you "release into the wild (in other words, placing the book in a completely random place)" make sure the label or note has the book's special number on it. When someone finds it they can then go onto Book Crossing's website and mark that it was found. If and when they decide to get rid of the book they will do the same thing that you did. You can watch it travel around via the website. For all of the complete details check out Book Crossing's About Us page here and their FAQ here.
