Surprising Turn Out For a Biker Book

Recently I finished a contemporary book called The Possibility of Trey by J.A. Hornbuckle from her Hellion MC series, which some would also consider a "biker book" due to the theme of it. I get on the picky side when it comes to those kind of books because only certain ones seem to grab at me so to speak.

My absolute favorite "biker" series is Thompson & Sons by Vivian Arend. With that said, based on The Possibility of Trey alone, it's quite possible that Hellion MC will become my second favorite "biker series".

Thompson & Sons and Hellion MC are definitely worth checking out if you like "biker" books or are interested in reading one in general.

Until next time....

Happy reading, Bookworms!

New Way to Follow I.B.C

Hey Bookworms,

Insomnia Book Club recently joined Bloglovin' as a test run. If it works out then we'll have a nice new comfy spot there. Follow I.B.C's blog with Bloglovin' here.

Here is the explanation of what Bloglovin' is from Wikipedia: Bloglovin is a platform that allows users to read, organize, and discover their favorite blogs on mobile and desktop. It is a design-focused platform that aggregates feeds from sources with RSS feeds, allowing users to discover and organize content. As of April 2014, Bloglovin’ reaches over 16 million global users monthly. Bloglovin caters primarily to the “lifestyle” crowd.

In a nutshell Bloglovin.com is a cross between pinterest.com and tumblr.com for blogs but also reminds me of RSS programs. So, if you follow numerous blogs or want to but not interested in following them via RSS feed then you might enjoy Bloglovin' since it also has some of the social networking aspects to it like Pinterest and Tumblr.

Synopsis: In a province where magic is forbidden and its possessors are murdered by the cruel Praetor, young Ilan, born with the powerful gift of her ancestors, has only one hope for survival. Concealment. In the shadow of Dimmingwood, she finds temporary protection with a band of forest brigands led by the infamous outlaw Rideon the Red Hand.

But as Ilan matures, learns the skills of survival, and struggles to master the inherent magic of her dying race, danger is always close behind. When old enemies reappear and new friendships lead to betrayal, will her discovery of an enchanted bow prove to be Ilan’s final salvation or her ultimate downfall?

* * * * *
When I was small, my mother taught me about the magickless—evil men who hunted our kind to destroy us. They came from across the water to steal the lands of our ancestors. Pretending to want peace, they enslaved us and sought to extinguish what they couldn’t possess, the one thing their harsh laws could never control. Our ancient powers. One day, my mother warned me, violence would shatter the safety of our home, and when that day came, we must fight. And we must win.

The Game Plan By R.L. Mathewson Release Date

Fans of the Neighbor From Hell series by R.L. Mathewson will be pleased to hear that the fifth book in the series, The Game Plan, is due out December 27th. It is available for pre-order from Smashwords.com. Currently it is not appearing on Amazon.com like the rest of R.L. Mathewson's books. It's possible that it won't appear until the release date is closer or on the day it's released.

I read all of the e-books in the series except for the fourth one, which was Truce: The Historic Neighbor from Hell. Every single one of them was enjoyable and definitely plan on reading The Game Plan when it's released.

Have you read any of the Neighbor From Hell books? What did you think of them? Let us know in the comments below!

The Game Plan (Neighbor From Hell #5) by R.L. Mathewson
What happens when an ex-marine who just happens to be a Bradford finds himself living across the hall from a woman who can't pop even an aspirin without losing control and who hates the very ground that he walks on?

Zodiac By Romina Russell Released

Heads up, Bookworms! The first book to a brand new YA (Young Adult) series was released today. Zodiac by Romina Russell, the first book in her Zodiac series, sounds like it could be well worth reading. If you enjoy fantasy books and are into astrology then this just might be the book for you but if not then it doesn't hurt to check it out either. Also, if you buy books based on the cover alone then keep an eye out for Zodiac because the cover is beautifully done! Pick up your copy from Barnes & Noble, Amazon.com or any book store near you.

Zodiac by Romina Russell
At the dawn of time, there were 13 Houses in the Zodiac Galaxy. Now only 12 remain….

Rhoma Grace is a 16-year-old student from House Cancer with an unusual way of reading the stars. While her classmates use measurements to make accurate astrological predictions, Rho can’t solve for ‘x’ to save her life—so instead, she looks up at the night sky and makes up stories.

When a violent blast strikes the moons of Cancer, sending its ocean planet off-kilter and killing thousands of citizens—including its beloved Guardian—Rho is more surprised than anyone when she is named the House’s new leader. But, a true Cancerian who loves her home fiercely and will protect her people no matter what, Rho accepts.

Then, when more Houses fall victim to freak weather catastrophes, Rho starts seeing a pattern in the stars. She suspects Ophiuchus—the exiled 13th Guardian of Zodiac legend—has returned to exact his revenge across the Galaxy. Now Rho—along with Hysan Dax, a young envoy from House Libra, and Mathias, her guide and a member of her Royal Guard—must travel through the Zodiac to warn the other Guardians.

But who will believe anything this young novice says? Whom can Rho trust in a universe defined by differences? And how can she convince twelve worlds to unite as one Zodiac?

E-book Freebie Friday

Today's e-book for E-book Freebie Friday is The Vampire from Hell: The Beginning by Ally Thomas. The e-book is around 98 pages long. Download your copy from Amazon.com here.

Based on the e-books that I have read in this series it's between 2 1/2 to 3 stars out of 5 stars for me. Some parts of the e-books were good while other parts were more along the lines of "Are you kidding me?". Check the e-book out though and see if it works out a bit better for any of you than it did for me. I do plan on reading the rest of the series since there are some rather intriguing parts in the plot and the e-books are short so the time invested in them isn't too bad.

Synopsis: Rayea isn't daddy's little girl, even if he is the most powerful fallen angel around. He wants her to take an active role in the family business. But she's not interested in his schemes for world domination. Instead she wants to spend her time shopping on the Internet, rescuing humans from a horrific eternity, and practicing martial arts with her seven foot hellhound. Then one day everything changes. Here's the first part of her story about how it all began.

Interview With Michelle Howard

Today we have a semi-recent sci-fi romance author with us. Michelle Howard managed to take the time out of her schedule during this holiday to do an interview for Insomnia Book Club. She currently has three series; Overlord, Alpha Squad and Harmony. Each series consists of novella length books. As always a shorter length book is definitely great for those with busy schedules!

Time to get comfortable in front of that desktop computer, laptop, tablet, cellphone... any of the hundreds of viewing options these days... and embark on a an interview with Ms. Michelle Howard.

Insomnia Book Club [I.B.C]: Out of all three of your book series which one is your favorite and why?
Howard: This is a hard question because I love the worlds I created. If forced I’d have to say my Warlord series because with sci-fi you can be creative and aren’t limited to real world obstacles.

I.B.C: Do you have any plans for a new series in the future?
Howard: Actually my nano project which I hope to release in 2015 is a new sci-fi series I plan to add to my roster. LOL. The stories will take place on alien worlds and involve Earth women finding love.

I.B.C: If you could choose only one genre to write about for the rest of your life, what would it be and why?
Howard: I’d say paranormal and sci-fi tie. Both allow you to play with a limitless supply of story lines. I do love a good vamp or shifter romance.

Twelfth Elemental Assassin Book Released

Hey Bookworms,

Just a friendly reminder that Black Widow, the 12th book in the Elemental Assassin series by Jennifer Estep was released November 25th. Pick up your copy from Barnes & Noble, Amazon.com or anywhere that books are sold near you. Drop a comment to let us know your thoughts on the 12th installment of Elemental Assassin.

Black Widow (Elemental Assassin #12) by Jennifer Estep
With wicked Fire elemental Mab Monroe long gone, you’d think I could finally catch a break. But someone’s always trying to take me down, either as Gin Blanco or my assassin alter-ago. Now along comes the Spider’s new arch-nemesis, the mysteriously named M. M. Monroe, who is gleefully working overtime to trap me in a sticky web of deceit.

The thing is, I’m not the only target. I can see through the tangled threads enough to know that every bit of bad luck my friends have been having lately is no accident—and that each unfortunate “coincidence” is just one more arrow drawing ever closer to hitting the real bulls-eye. Though new to Ashland, this M. M. Monroe is no stranger to irony, trying to get me, an assassin, framed for murder. Yet, as my enemy’s master plan is slowly revealed, I have a sinking feeling that it will take more than my powerful Ice and Stone magic to stop my whole life from going up in flames.

The beautiful thief wants to go straight. She secretly admires the clue’s author, freedwoman Justice Postell, who rose above the horrors of slavery to build a new life in Ohio. According to family lore, Justice left South Carolina at the dawn of the Civil War. Heavy with child, she carried untold riches on her journey north. As Birdie searches for the treasure, she begins to believe a questionable part of the story: a tale of love between Justice and Lucas Postell, the French plantation owner who was Birdie’s ancestor.

If the stories are true, Justice bore a child with Lucas. Some of those black relatives might still live in town. Birdie can’t help but wonder if she’s found one—Liberty’s feisty matriarch, Theodora Hendricks, who packs a pistol and heartwarming stories about Justice. Birdie doesn’t know that an investigative reporter who has arrived in town will trip her up—as will her conscience when she begins to wonder if it’s possible to start a new life with stolen riches. Yet with each new clue she unearths, Birdie begins to discover a family history more precious than gems, a tradition of love richer than she could imagine.

Interview With HA Fortman

Please welcome HA Fortman! She is a new sci-fi romance author to the book world. Now is as good a time as any to check out her work since her first book was published this year. Chasing Constellations, the first book of the USG Constellation series, is sure to please those who prefer to read shorter length books such as novellas as well since Chasing Constellations is only around 163 pages long.

Without further ado here is the fresh and new author, Mrs. Fortman, with her answers to our inquisitive questions.

Insomnia Book Club [I.B.C]: Your first book was made available during August of this year. Have the emotions over that died out or do you find yourself still filled with the same emotions over it?

Fortman: My emotions are still all over the place with my first book. It seems surreal to have finally followed my dream and start writing, and each little milestone is a huge success for me, even the negative ones. In fact, just yesterday I was told that I am an international bestseller of Science Fiction Romance on Amazon! I had no idea, and would be completely oblivious had some other author friends not told me!

I.B.C: Chasing Constellations is of the sci-fi romance genre. Would you prefer to continue writing in that genre with possible future books or have you ever thought of writing a different genre of book(s) as well?

Fortman: I have a few plot ideas for some Paranormal books, but they are sitting on the back burner for the time being until I get more of the UGS Constellation books done. So yes, I do plan on writing in some other genres.

I.B.C: What made you decide to start writing Chasing Constellations?

Fortman: I was at a Facebook party where one of my favorite authors (SE Smith) was hosting a one hour block. She was generous enough to post an "Ask me anything" comment. I took the plunge and asked if she had any advice for an aspiring author. She answered with a "talk to me after the hour is up", and then proceeded to not only call me and talk to me about it, but to continue to give help and advice whenever I need it!

Interview With S.E. Smith

Allow me to introduce a wonderful author, who is also a special surprise for Insomnia Book Club. The very talented and well known author S.E. Smith! If you haven't heard of her and enjoy sci-fi, paranormal, and or time travel books with romance then be sure to check her out! She has many series to select and choose from.

Now, pull up a chair with your drink of preference as we enter Mrs. Smith's world.

Insomnia Book Club (I.B.C): Being one of my personal favorite sc-fi romance authors, this is such a thrill getting to interview you for Insomnia Book Club! Thanks for taking the time out to do this.
Smith: Thank you for the invite, Amaya! I truly appreciate being asked to participate. Hi everyone in the Insomnia Book Club!! (Waving)

I.B.C: Merrick's Maiden from your Cosmos' Gateway series is due out in December of this year. You also have a few other books due to come out in 2015. How do you manage your time with writing so many book series?
Smith: It isn't easy. It will be even more challenging as I write more series. The biggest thing I do is write for the love of writing and listening to the characters when they say, 'me next'. I do have to balance my family life with writing though. Since I've started writing full time, I've found it even more difficult to make a schedule. It is a continued work in progress.

I.B.C: Out of all of the book series that you have written which one would you say is your pride and joy?
Smith: It is hard to say one specific book, they each have a special place. Out of all of them, I think Gracie's Touch has a special pride and joy. Her story is different, but it is the strength in her.

Appreciate Readers and Nonreaders Alike

It has come to my attention more and more that a lot of people who love to read look down upon those who dislike reading in general or dislike reading as much as they do. I am only saying this because it is important and needs to be said. Whether you enjoy to read or not it does not nor will it ever make you a bad person. Thinking badly of a person just because they don't share the same enjoyment of reading that you do is the same thing as another person thinking badly of you just because you do read. Please remember that reading does not make anyone better than anyone else. For some reading may be a part of them while for others something else may be a part of them. Hurting someone due to their dislike of reading is wrong and hurtful. Before reading became a "trend" there were plenty of people that made fun of others for reading. Don't become that type of person. What truly matters is a person's heart, not what one of their hobbies are. If you are one of those people who do think badly of others for not taking the same enjoyment that you do in books then please take the time to think about this post. What you do is your own choice. All that I ask is that you at least think about it. There is always time to change your thoughts on something if you choose to do so. Again, it is your choice.

Take care, Bookworms, and as always Happy Reading!

Final Book In House of Night Series Released

Reedemed by P.C. Cast was finally released this month on October 14th. It is the last and final book in the House of Night series, which many readers of this series are rejoicing for. Some fans from the beginning of the series quit reading it due to it dragging on for so long. I am definitely not an exception to that. I read up to the 9th book in series before giving up and quitting on it. As much as I disliked the way things were moving along it does make me curious of the last book to see how things finally come to an end.

So, House of Night fans, what are your thoughts on Reedemed, the 12th and final book in the House of Night series? Are you rejoicing for the conclusion of it or does the finality of it make you sad to see it all come to an end? Questions that have yet to be answered and decisions of the heart are all suppose to be finalized in Reedemed.

E-book Freebie Friday

Welcome to E-book Freebie Friday! Starting today and every Friday after a new weekly e-book freebie will be featured.

Today's e-book freebie is The Kingdom Series Collection: Books 1 - 3 by Marie Hall. It can be downloaded from Barnes & Noble here and also from Amazon here. It is roughly 307 pages with all three e-books combined. Don't forget to let us know what you think of this freebie in the comments below! Happy reading!

Synopsis: The first three kingdom books, all together in one collection. Included deleted bonus scenes and Alice Hu's Red Queen's Revenge cupcake recipe!

Her Mad Hatter:

Alice is all grown up. Running the Mad Hatter's Cupcakery and Tea Shoppe is a delicious job, until fate--and a fairy godmother with a weakness for bad boys--throws her a curveball. Now, Alice is the newest resident of Wonderland, where the Mad Hatter fuels her fantasies and thrills her body with his dark touch.

The Mad Hatter may have a voice and a body made for sex, but he takes no lovers. Ever. But a determined fairy godmother has forced Alice into Wonderland--and his arms. Now, as desire and madness converge, the Hatter must decide if he will fight the fairy godmother's mating--or fight for Alice.

Gerard's Beauty:

A not so classic retelling of Beauty and the Beast, as seen through the eyes of the villain... Betty Hart has had it with men. Jilted in love, her life now consists of shelving books by day, watching too much Anime by night, and occasionally dressing up like a superhero on the weekends with her fellow ?Bleeding Heart? nerds. Men are not welcome and very much unwanted. Especially the sexy Frenchman who saunters into her library reeking of alcohol and looking like he went one too many rounds in the ring.

Gerard Caron is in trouble. Again. Caught with his pants down (literally) he?s forced to seek asylum on Earth while his fairy godmother tries to keep Prince Charming from going all ?Off with his head?. Maybe, messing around with the King?s daughter hadn?t been such a great idea after all, not that Gerard knew the silly redhead was a princess. But his fairy godmother knows the only way to save his life is to finally pair Gerard with his perfect mate, whether he?s willing or not.

From the moment Gerard lays eyes on the nerdy librarian he knows he must have her, but Betty is unlike any woman he?s ever known. He thought Betty would come as willingly to his bed as every other woman before her, but she is a woman who demands respect and even? horror of all horrors? love. Is it possible for a self-proclaimed Casanova to change his ways?

Red and Her Wolf
:

Long ago there lived a beautiful child. Her name was Violet. Fair of skin, with blonde hair and large blue eyes. Born of wild magic, she was a woman with a child?s heart. Innocent and lovely, but not at all what she seemed--you see Violet went by another name: The Heartsong.
She was the child of fairy magic, the physical manifestation of all fae kinds unbridled power. Cosseted and pampered, she grew up in isolation, never knowing who she really was, or why there were those who?d seek to harm her.

Ewan of the Blackfoot Clan is a wolf with a problem. He?s been sent to kill the Heartsong, but the moment he lays eyes on the blonde beauty he knows he?ll defy the evil fae he works for to claim Violet as his own.

Only, Franki's mother disappeared from her life without a trace exactly three years ago to the day.

Who sent the mysterious invitation? Franki's need to answer this question will lead her to the doorway of a strange and dangerous new world. A world her mother went to great lengths to keep hidden.

A world someone desperately wants Franki to discover.
