Losing a Loved One

The holidays seem to be the worst time of the year when it comes to losing a loved one as well as dealing with the pain of losing a loved one. My Father passed away this year, something I will never forget nor get over. In some ways he was my best friend. No one really understands the pain that comes from losing a spouse, child, sibling, etc. until they go through it. Because of that there really aren't many people that you can talk to about the subject who completely understand. Some cities do have group meetings for those who have lost loved ones (provided it's not too far to drive to) and then there are people who are very much solitary and prefer one on one over going to group meetings. There are also people who tend to close up and not wish to speak to anyone about losing their loved one.

Going In Reverse With the Hathaways

So, a while back I felt like reading a historical romance and ended up with Love In the Afternoon by Lisa Kleypas. It is the fifth and final book in The Hathaways series by Lisa Kleypas but the synopsis caught my eye, so I dived into it. I loved it so much that I read the fourth book... then the third book... and now I am almost done with the second book, waiting to dive into the first book of the series. Definitely not the best idea to read any series backwards but no regrets here!

Persephone by Kitty Thomas

In search of a Persephone and Hades book I decided to give Persephone by Kitty Thomas a try.

Persephone has good points and bad points. The book is written well but some of the story, such as character personalities, didn't sit too well with me. It could just be me as I've read plenty of Persephone and Hades books. That doesn't mean this book wouldn't fit well with others. For me, I just couldn't get past certain aspects of it. Again, it is a well written book... perhaps just not the best Persephone and Hades themed book for me. Incase some of you get caught offguard like I did, this book is NOT for the faint of heart with it's sexual manner. I did not finish the book due to the scenes that it possessed and being unable to get into the main characters' personalities for Persephone and Hades, which is something I very rarely do.

In search of the next read!

Book Rut Begone!

So, I think I might have actually gotten out of that awful book rut! I tried diving into a book from the Secret Book Santa challenge for the hundedth time. This time it actually worked! So, thankyou Racing Hearts by Candi Heart!

It is such a relief to be out of that awful book rut. That was the longest book rut that I have ever been in. Time to dive into a sea of books!

Lovely Book Rut

Book ruts can be the worst for a bookworm. I am in a big book rut. No matter what book I try to read I can't get into it at all, that includes books from the Secret Book Santa challenge. So, in an attempt to get out of the book rut I started reading fanfics on Hopefully that will kick said book rut out!

As for fanfics, I am mostly reading Riverdale fanfics. I am a definite Betty and Jughead shipper but when it comes to fanfics I am all the way Betty and Sweet Pea. If any of you are interested in some good Betty and Sweet Pea fanfics drop a comment below.

Hope the rest of you aren't going through a book rut too!

New V.C. Andrews Book!

V.C. Andrews is one of the authors that I remember the most from my childhood. My Favorite series above all by her is the Hudson series. I've read the series multiple times. The Hudson series is also how I discovered V.C. Andrews, even though she is famously known for Flowers In the Attic.

In the last days of the world, the walls of Viyara are still falling, and the dead are rising faster than ever.

Juliet is trapped—ordered by Lord Ineo of the Mahyanai to sacrifice the remaining members of her family, the Catresou, to stave off the end of the world. Though they’re certain his plan is useless, Juliet and her former friend Runajo must comply with Lord Ineo’s wishes—unless they can discover a different, darker path to protecting Viyara.

Romeo is tortured: finally aware that his true love is alive, he is at once elated and devastated, for his actions led directly to the destruction of her clan. The only way to redemption is to offer his life to the Catresou to protect and support them . . . even if it means dying to do so.
